Winchester City of Sanctuary welcomes volunteers. We are entirely run by volunteers and need your time and skills. We actively encourage applications from people with sanctuary backgrounds.

Current volunteer opportunities include:
- Two x Volunteer Coordinators needed to assist with recruitment, supervision, management and support of volunteers.
- Digital volunteers to assist with generating content, designing and scheduling posts for social media and support with website design and content.
- Bookkeeping volunteer to assist us with setting up basic accounting processes and with financial management to support our trustee board.
- Events volunteers to assist with planning for events and supporting events on the day, like Refugee Week, Music and arts events and campaign and awareness raising events.
- Fundraising volunteers to assist with researching funders, developing grant applications and carrying out fundraising activities.
- Health stream of sanctuary volunteers. Do you have a background in healthcare and time to support our healthcare stream of sanctuary work? Could you represent us on a local health care board or group? If so, please get in touch.
- Education stream of sanctuary volunteers. Do you have a background in education or teaching? Are you a retired teacher but keen to engage with schools, colleges and universities? If so, we are keen to recruit volunteers to assess potential schools, colleges and universities of sanctuary locally and regionally. - General stream of sanctuary volunteers to support Winchester City of Sanctuary streams of sanctuary in different areas including schools of sanctuary, the arts, and our welcome stream of sanctuary.
- Befriending volunteers as part of new partnership with St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP). You will volunteer as a befriender for SVP supporting people seeking sanctuary locally who are referred to the scheme via Winchester City of Sanctuary.
- Interpreters and translators needed on rolling basis (training available).

Trustees needed:
We are also looking to recruit new board members including a trustee to take on the Treasurer role. We are also looking for a bookkeeper to support the treasurer with day to day finance admin.
Please note that some of these roles may require DBS checks. We will cover the cost of any DBS checks.

Most of our volunteer roles are very flexible as Winchester City of Sanctuary is run entirely by volunteers so if you have a few hours to spare each week or month and would like to support us please do get in touch. Please note that sometimes our volunteer roles include some outside 9-5 hours, to support events and project activities.
