You can donate online, either as a one-off or regular donation, here

Winchester City of Sanctuary is a community group. We are entirely voluntary run and led. Donations are key to enabling us to support people seeking sanctuary. Our projects and events would not be possible without the generosity volunteers, partners and the local community! Just because we are voluntary led and run doesn’t mean we don’t need funding to be sustainable, expand our reach and to cover day to day running costs and good governance responsibilities.

Your donations* can help us to cover basic core costs that enable us to concentrate our efforts on more sustainable funding streams to help sustain our streams of sanctuary work that is well underway.

*You can donate to us by credit or debit card but please note that Stripe, who process the payment, will charge a small handling fee. To avoid a payment processing fee please donate via bank transfer where there is no processing fee. Please note that all donations made to our organisation on Open Collective, are charged a 5% hosting fee by Open Collective, which is deducted from the donation that we receive. Open Collective is a fiscal hosting service provided by the Social Change Nest CIC who specialise in supporting people-powered networks. It enables us to accept donations and sponsorships, pay invoices and expenses and is fully transparent.

A fiscal host is an organization that welcomes others to operate through their structure, so projects can use the hostโ€™s legal entity and bank account instead of setting up their own. The host provides administrative services, oversight, and support. Fiscal hosting is also called fiscal sponsorship, fund-holding, or auspicing in different places around the world.

Fundraise for usย

If you would like to fundraise for us at an event you are running, please get in touch so we can support you and promote what you are doing: [email protected]

Donate to City of Sanctuary UK

You can also support organisations that support refugees locally, regionally and nationally, including our umbrella organisation City of Sanctuary UK.

Please note that if you donate to City of Sanctuary UK then they cannot redistribute funds to us. Your donation would be to City of Sanctuary UK only not to Winchester City of Sanctuary.

Donating itemsย

Unfortunately, we do not have storage capacity to accept many donations so we are signposting any offers of donations to local charities and organisations like Basics Bankย and Vineyard Storehouse.

If you have practical items to donate like stationary supplies, arts and crafts materials, tablets or computers, (refurbished and wiped only please so please do not donate items containing sensitive data or materials as we don’t currently have the resources to get them wiped) then please email us at ย [email protected]ย to discuss and arrange collection or to provide you with details for a drop off location in Winchester. We are currently seeking donated laptops or tablets for us to use as an organisation (to support our volunteers, admin and for using at Advice First Aid triage sessions when doing outreach work in our community) and for us to donate to people seeking sanctuary locally, to enable them to find work more easily and to facilitate their access to english language classes.
